ETFE membrane is composed of ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer, a transparent film material without a fabric substrate, exhibiting an elongation at break of 420% to 440%. The light transmission spectrum of ETFE membrane material is similar to glass (commonly known as soft glass). ETFE membrane is categorized by thickness into 50, 80, 100, 150, and 200μm.
ETFE membrane is suitable for constructing roofs or walls in architectural spaces requiring ample indoor sunlight. While it permits significant elastic deformation, it exhibits creep elongation and is therefore unsuitable for membrane surfaces in spatial membrane structures requiring resistance.
ETFE membrane is lightweight with excellent light transmission properties, weighing approximately 1/100th of a glass panel of equivalent size. It can be used for building roofs and walls requiring light transmission.
Key Selection Points for ETFE Membranes:
1) ETFE membrane material exhibits a spectral transmittance profile nearly identical to glass, featuring high ultraviolet transmittance and visible light transmittance >95%. By printing a light-blocking film on the surface or adjusting membrane thickness, light and UV transmittance can be regulated, controllable between 50%–96%.
2) Long-term service temperature range: -200°C to 150°C.
3) Upon reaching its melting point in fire conditions, it forms melt holes with burning edges that propagate without producing flames or dripping. Classified as Class B1 flame-retardant material per China's GB8624 “Classification Method for Combustion Performance of Building Materials.”
4) When ETFE membrane material forms an air-filled insulating layer with an air-coated surface, it exhibits excellent thermal insulation properties.
5) ETFE membrane material possesses good chemical stability and corrosion resistance.
6) The ultimate tensile strength of ETFE membrane material exceeds 40 MPa. Below 20 MPa, the membrane remains in an elastic state, allowing folding and demonstrating good tear resistance.
7) Exceptional weather resistance. Long-term exposure tests show no degradation in mechanical properties.
8) ETFE membrane material manufacturers provide a 10-year warranty, with actual service life exceeding 20 years.
9) The smooth membrane surface resists dust and stain accumulation, exhibiting excellent self-cleaning properties in rainwater. Additionally, the film surface demonstrates high toughness against hail impact.
10) Upon reaching the end of its service life, ETFE membrane material can be recycled, reprocessed, or melted down into granular raw material.
